Do you experience emotions only on your face? Why use books and teaching tools that show only faces when we experience emotions on our entire body? Our emotional literacy program uses a children's book --Happy, Sad, & Everything in Between-- with a child character named Kai. The child's character goes through various feelings throughout the book along with the reader and gives concrete descriptions of what emotions might feel like on our body and what types of thoughts we might have when we experience those emotions. This approach helps with sustaining children's attention, which we know is directly related to learning outcomes. Through fun exercises and examples, your students will be talking relaxation techniques and deep breathing. The book also offers introduction literature for educators and parents to better understand the mechanism behind teaching emotions to children. Look inside the book! |
